Earl of Dalhousie (1886 - 1886)

John William Ramsay, 13th Earl of Dalhousie KT, (1847 - 1887) was a Scottish politician.

Son of George Ramsay, 12th Earl, he served in the Royal Navy from 1861 to 1879 when he retired to study and enter political life. He matriculated at Balliol College, Oxford in 1875. He was liberal Member of Parliament for Liverpool in 1880, but succeeded to the Earldom in the same year. He was made a Lord in Waiting in Gladstone's Liberal Government of 1880 to 1885 and Secretary for Scotland in the short-lived Liberal Government of 1886. He was made a Knight of the Thistle in 1881.
